Eagle Mine to offer Free Public Tours of Facilities CHAMPION, Mich., April 22, 2025—A series of public tours of Eagle Mine facilities will be offered during the summer. Tour locations will alternate between the Eagle Mine in Big Bay and the Humboldt Mill in Champion on Thursdays from July to September. Tours of the Eagle Mine will be offered on the following dates from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.: June 19, July 10, July 24, August 7, August 21, September 4, and September 18. The Eagle Mine Tour is primarily a driving surface tour of the mine site with a

Marquette -Silver Creek Church and Silver Creek Thrift are partnering with Feeding America West Michigan to host a Mobile Food Pantry. Taking place on Thursday, September 11. Two Tours Offered Wednesday, October 1, 1:00 p.m. & 6:00 p.m. The concept of “forest forensics” was coined by Tom Wessels and means to look for clues on land to understand human, climatic, and geologic actions that shaped a forest. We are thrilled to partner with MSU Extension’s Forestry and Natural Resources Educator, Anna Ellis, to take a hike at Old Towne in Negaunee. 8 events,Northern Michigan University Theatre and Dance will present Into the Woods, a fantasy musical by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine, Sept 25-27 and Oct 2-4. This “darkly enchanting” production blends familiar fairy tale characters with profound themes of desire, consequence and hope. “Into the Woods begins with characters everyone recognizes, like Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk and Little Red Riding Hood, but Act II gets, as most Sondheim pieces do, much more mature and more personal,” said director Paul Truckey. “Everybody goes into the woods at some point in their life, and this show explores what happens when you do.” MUNISING, Mich.- Sand Point Road will be temporarily closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic east of the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore boundary from approximately Oct. 2 through Oct. 8, 2025, for a culvert replacement project. The closure may extend through Oct. 10 if additional time is needed to complete the work. The Sand Point Marsh Trail, Sand Point Beach, and Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore Headquarters will be inaccessible via Sand Point Road during this time. A Public Candidate Forum will be held Thursday, October 2nd for candidates running for the Marquette Board of Light and Power and the Marquette City Commission. The League of Women Voters of Marquette County will moderate the Forum and present proposed ballot measures for Michigan’s 2026 election. The Forum will be held in Marquette’s City Commission Chambers, 300 W.
