Northern Michigan University’s Platform Personalities will host “An Evening with Rachel Dratch.” The multifaceted comedian, actress and writer is perhaps best known for her seven-year run on “Saturday Night Live,” where she created many memorable characters, including Debbie Downer. MSU Extension and Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) will offer Pesticide Applicator Training and Exams in the Upper Peninsula at Bay College in Escanaba on April 3rd, 2025 8:00am – 4:00pm ET. The program includes a core manual review (RUP credits), lunch and MDARD exams (Full training & exam participation required). Core exams (private and commercial) will be offered by MDARD, while Commercial Category exams will be available onsite through Bay College Testing Services. MDARD pesticide applicator recertification credits are available to those attending the Core Manual review.
The Northern Michigan University French Program will present a free French Baking Seminar featuring BabyCakes pastry chef Lisette LaFave. The event is open to the public and scheduled from 1:30-2:20 p.m. Thursday, April 3, in Whitman Hall 136. As part of Northern Michigan University’s 125th Anniversary Celebration, a special public event is planned to recognize the 30th anniversary of “Haywire,” the Forest Roberts Theatre musical about an 1880s logging camp that was one of five productions selected from more than 900 national submissions to perform at the Kennedy Center’s American College Theatre Festival. Marquette, MI – April 9, 2025 – St. Paul’s Episcopal Church of Marquette will host a benefit concert featuring local artists and choral groups on Sunday, April 13th at 3:00 pm at the church at 201 East Ridge Street in Marquette. The concert is a kickoff event to celebrate the 150th anniversary of St. Paul’s sanctuary building. The concert was originally scheduled for Sunday March 30th, but was rescheduled due to a snowstorm that day. The concert will feature a wide variety of music from Broadway tunes, to classical vocal music, to folk music, fiddle tunes, and choral music.

The Houghton County Board of Commissioners and Administration invite all residents to attend a Special Meeting on April 15, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., located at 401 East Houghton Avenue, 3rd Floor Circuit Court, Houghton, MI 49931, to learn about the designs under consideration for the construction of a new county jail. Northern Michigan University will host its 29th annual Celebration of Student Scholarship on Thursday, April 17, beginning with an opening ceremony at 9 a.m. and continuing throughout the day in Jamrich Hall. 2025 Puppy Parade is April 17 Copper Shores Victim Support is asking the community to save the date for the fifth annual Puppy Parade. The event is Thursday, April 17, 2025, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. The Puppy Parade will be held in downtown Hancock, starting at Quincy Green. Held annually during Sexual Assault Awareness Month, the Puppy Parade is a community awareness event and solidarity walk for survivors of sexual assault. 17-Mile Walk from Knotty Pine to Up North Lodge to Benefit UP Pink Power On Saturday, April 26th, 2025, join us for a 17-mile walk from the Knotty Pine to the Up North Lodge to support UP Pink Power, a dedicated organization focused on helping residents of the Upper Michigan with catastrophic events in their life.
