Tuesday November 5, 2024. 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. Peter White Public Library Great Room. Youth grades 2-5 welcome to Comic Creators! Attendees will participate in writing, illustrating and publishing their own graphic novel! There will be an option for kids to have their finished works added to the library’s circulating collection. Participants will get together with other graphic novel/comic book fans, talk about favorite books, create stories and make comic based crafts. No admission charge. “The Copper Country Beekeeping Club will meet on Tuesday, November 5th, @ 6:30 pm at Carnegie Museum in Houghton. Please use the lower entrance. Our guest speaker, Bernie Driggs, will cover winter beekeeping. Come find out what you can do throughout the winter season for your bees. The Lake Linden-Hubbell Public School will hold their annual Fall Parent/Teacher Conferences on Thursday, November 7, 2024. Middle School and high school students will be dismissed at 11:44 am. Northern Michigan University will hold the fourth annual Upper Peninsula Association for Behavior Analysis (UPABA) conference Nov. 7-8. This year’s event focuses on language acquisition strategies and features national speakers, practical workshops and networking opportunities. The goals of the annual conference are to increase knowledge, improve client support and collaborate with institutions for effective care across the Great Lakes region. The number of applied behavior analysis providers in the Upper Peninsula has grown significantly over the last decade. Former refugees and migrants who now serve in government, humanitarian and educational roles will share their journeys to where they are today, highlighting their work in supporting vulnerable communities and giving back.
