Copper Shores Outreach & Education is hosting a free two-day Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) on Monday, October 28 and Tuesday, October 29 at the MUB Alumni Lounge on Michigan Tech’s campus. This two day workshop runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day, teaching people the skills the help prevent suicide, and how to intervene to help keep someone safe from suicide.   Those who partake in ASIST include both trained professionals and members of the general public. NMU Nursing, Clinical Sciences Host Open Lab Day

Two Northern Michigan University Schools–Clinical Sciences and Nursing–will join together to host an Open Lab Day for U.P. high school students from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, in rooms and labs around The Science Building. Past events have attracted as many as 150 high school participants from across the Upper Peninsula. The seven different labs and their respective room numbers are: clinical lab sciences (3508), surgical technology (1603), radiography (2610), speech, language and hearing sciences (1504), CLS molecular lab/Upper Michigan Brain Tumor Center (3611), Nursing Technology Center (1609) and nursing simulation labs (1702 and 2612 A-E).

Marquette Regional History Center presents: Senior Support Series: Shipwreck!

  Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. Regional author Christian Leathers is a current Great Lakes ship pilot. Join us to hear his story of writing the recently published: The Wreck of the Steamer Superior. The 1856 tragedy took place near the Pictured Rocks lakeshore and is described in this book along with the fate of passengers she was carrying. Enjoy hearing this true story directly from the author who researched this seldom celebrated wreck. Artifacts on display for this event will help illustrate the tale.
