Alfred Erickson American Legion Post 186                   Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser        Sunday,  September 29 2024        @ the Post Home             1308 Quincy Street, Hancock Serving from 12 noon – 4 pm Donation $10 Curbside pickup only We ask people to enter from birch street and exit onto Quincy st.  Watch for our people directing traffic.  Food will be delivered to your car.  Tickets can be purchased from Legion members or at the event.  The sauce is scratch made by our veteran members from a recipe we have been using for decades.  Served with fresh French bread, coleslaw and a cookie.  Please support

Baraga County Holiday Decor Tours   HALLOWEEN outdoor displays must be engaged from 6pm until 9pm from October 21st through October 31st.   CHRISTMAS outdoor displays must be engaged from 6pm until 9pm from December 14th through January 1st.   Share your holiday spirit and passion for decorating by listing your site on the map!  Participate in Halloween, Christmas, or both!  There is no fee to participate and no fee for maps.  Sites listed on the maps will be entered into drawings for Baraga Bucks!

Troopers from the Michigan State Police Calumet Post and five grocery stores in Baraga and Houghton counties will be working together to host “STUFF A BLUE GOOSE” Harvest Gathering charity events.  The purpose is to raise hunger awareness and to provide food to local food pantries.   Troopers will be at Larry’s Market in Baraga, Pat’s Foods in L’Anse, and Pat’s Foods in Calumet, to assist in the collection of donated food items and to answer questions regarding the food drive. Last year, Houghton’s Plaidurday celebration made a bold attempt to break a world record by gathering over 1,700 plaid-clad participants on the Houghton High School Football Field. The community rallied together in true UP spirit, proving that plaid isn’t just a pattern – in the Keweenaw, it’s a way of life! Building on that momentum, Plaidurday 2024 is expanding to include a new event that promises to keep the good times rolling. This year’s photo will be at 1 p.m. with a call time of 12:30 for attendees at the Houghton High School football field. Join for the photo and hang around town

Brew Street (Lakeshore Drive), where a lively beer garden with music and food trucks will be set up. Friends and neighbors can unwind together wearing their flannels on the pier. Expect great beer pours, regional food trucks from across the UP and a brief history lesson about the Lakeshore’s development over the years by the Carnegie Museum. Brew Street is a fundraiser for the Carnegie Museum, a Keweenaw National Historical Park Heritage Site.
