Copper Shores Outreach & Education is pleased to announce a series of free Narcan training sessions aimed at equipping community members with vital skills to respond to opioid overdoses and save lives. They will take place on September 10 in Lake Linden, September 19 in Houghton and September 23 in Baraga. Naloxone (Narcan™) is a life-saving medication that can reverse opioid overdoses. Narcan is an opiate antidote which works in much the same manner as an epinephrine injection (EpiPen™) reverses an allergic reaction. Friday September 20, 2024 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm the KBIC Health System is hosting a benefit for our WIC nurse Jessica Tollefson. Jessica was diagnosed with Colorectal cancer in February of this year. There will be a basket raffle and the Dog Father will be donating a portion of the proceeds to the family for medical expenses. The benefit will be at the Mikinaak Snack Shack (formally the BP gas station).

Wilderness Walk for World Peace Sunday, September 22, 2024 at 4:00 pm Nara Nature Park, Houghton, MI The Wilderness Walks are opportunities to connect with God and each other in an outdoor natural setting. Each walk has a leader who will guide the walk and stop along the way for readings and reflection. The walks are appropriate for all ages including families and children. Chickadees is hosting their annual Fall Fashion Show. This is a charity event, with all ticket proceeds benefiting the Copper Country Angel Mission.
