Ahmeek Village Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department Spaghetti Dinner Saturday, November 2nd from 12:00p – 6:00p Ahmeek Village Hall & Fire Station Carry Out only with Curbside service Spaghetti with homemade meat sauce, garlic bread & Cole Slaw $12.00 (Gluten Free Noodles Available) Dinner tickets and 50/50 raffle tickets are available from any fire department member, Lassila Insurance on US 41 in Mohawk and the L&L Bar in Calumet.
St. Ann’s Catholic Church Hunters’ Supper Drive Thru Event will be held on Sunday, November 3, 2024, serving 4 – 6 p.m. Pick up on Lyons Street at the Main Entrance. Dinner includes Roast Beef, Mashed Potatoes & Gravy, Green Bean Casserole, Rutabagas, Coleslaw, Pickled Beets, Rolls, and Assorted Deserts. Tickets are $15 and are available from St. Ann’s Parishioners, the Parish Office in L’Anse (906-524-6424) or in drive thru line on day of event.
The final Fall meeting of the Houghton-Keweenaw Chapter of MARSP (Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel) will be held on Monday, November 4th at the Bonfire in Houghton. The business meeting will begin at 12:30 pm, followed by a buffet lunch and speaker. The guest speaker will be Robin Meneguzzo, director of the Keweenaw Community Foundation. “The Copper Country Beekeeping Club will meet on Tuesday, November 5th, @ 6:30 pm at Carnegie Museum in Houghton. Please use the lower entrance. Our guest speaker, Bernie Driggs, will cover winter beekeeping. Come find out what you can do throughout the winter season for your bees. We will also be joined by Michigan Beekeepers Association District 8 representative Mark Edens! Bring your questions as there will be plenty of time for Q&A and discussion.
The Lake Linden-Hubbell Public School will hold their annual Fall Parent/Teacher Conferences on Thursday, November 7, 2024. Middle School and high school students will be dismissed at 11:44 am. Elementary students will be dismissed at 11:38 am. Hot lunch will not be served, but breakfast will be. conferences for students in grades 6-12 are from 12:30 – 3:30 pm, and from 4:30 – 6:30 pm. The Houghton High School Drama Club will present “Murder Runs In The Family” Friday and Saturday, November 8th and 9th at 7:00 PM and Sunday, November 10th at 2:00 PM. Performances will be presented in the Houghton High School Alumni Auditorium. Director David Crowley says the play is the story of an eccentric group of family members who gather for the reading of the patriarch’s will, each bringing with them a copy of their own fake will. Before any of the wills can be substituted for the real one, though, people start getting murdered. Throw in the requisite stormy night,
