  The Midwest Bisexual Lesbian Gay Transgender Asexual College Conference (MBLGTACC) will be held at Northern Michigan University Oct. 25-27. Now in its 32nd year, it is the nation’s largest and oldest-continuously running conference for queer and trans+ college students and young adults, designed to catalyze conversation and action around relevant issues. Each year, MBLGTACC makes one Midwest community a destination for a diverse gathering of 2,000+ college students. The conference is a program of the Midwest Institute for Sexuality and Gender Diversity. The St. Peter Cathedral Woman Caring and Serving/Altar Society will be hosting a bazaar on Saturday, October 26 from 9 a.m.. to 1 p.m. in the St. Peter Cathedral Hall. Northern Michigan University Theatre and Dance and the Masonic Arts, Theatre & Innovation Company (MÄTI) announce a new chapter for The Rocky Horror Show. After successfully producing this cult classic for the past few years, MÄTI is passing the artistic torch to NMU Theatre and Dance, which will stage the show at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24 through Saturday, Oct. 26 in Forest Roberts Theatre, with later 10:30 p.m. performances on Friday and Saturday.   Northern Michigan University’s 57th annual fall semester job fair will take place from 1-4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, in the Northern Center ballrooms. The job fair offers students and alumni a one-stop opportunity to receive information about a wide array of career possibilities from participating employers in attendance who are recruiting for full-time and part-time jobs, as well as internships and seasonal employment. Admission to this event is free for Northern students and alumni. Attendees are encouraged to dress professionally and have their resumes on hand. Its tale of a scientist’s effort to bring back the dead by carving a new creature from their corpses—only to have his creation turn on him through a series of violent acts—has had an enduring influence on popular culture and spawned many creative adaptations.   Indigenous artists from across the region will gather at Northern Michigan University to share their perspectives on film, paintings, music, sculpture, literature and other arts.  The inaugural Indigenous Perspectives Symposium is free to the public and scheduled for Friday, Nov. 1, in the Northern Center.   Northern Michigan University’s construction management program is hosting Women in Construction Day on Friday, Nov. 1 in the Jacobetti Complex. This hands-on career exploration event will be presented by dynamic women working in the industry and offer high school students an opportunity to discover options traditionally viewed as male-oriented. Students will complete projects such as welding, graphic technology, woodworking, trade opportunities, leadership, and/or construction management. There will be lunch, a prize drawing and trade show. Saturday, November 2, 2024. 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Peter White Public Library, George Shiras III Room.  Four mindfulness meditation and yoga teachers invite you to engage in a year of mindful living.  Each month, one of the teachers will present a topic that addresses the different dimensions where we can practice mindfulness and presence.  The intent is for us to cultivate mindfulness, care, and well-being individually and in our love, business, and social relationships.  These are drop-in sessions, although committing to a full year is a way to build a consistent mindfulness practice.
