Dead River Bridge Walk for Diabetes

 A Dead River Bridge Walk for Diabetes has been set for Sunday, October 13th, from noon – 3 with walk from 12 to 1pm with options for drawings and resource fair to follow. The event is centered at the picnic area of Marquette Tourist Park, 2145 Sugarloaf Ave. in Marquette, Michigan, hosted by the Marquette Lions Club. A Candidate Forum for candidates running for Negaunee City Council will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at the Negaunee High School Auditorium, 500 W. Arch St. in Negaunee. NMU Orchestra Performs ‘String Masterworks’

The Northern Michigan University Orchestra will present “String Masterworks,” a tour through musical history featuring pioneering pieces that influenced the development of string orchestra. Admission to the event—taking place at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, in Reynolds Recital Hall—is free and open to the public. Individual movements from notable works will include the music of seminal composers such as Coreli, Bach, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Grieg, and Tchaikovsky. NEA Big Read Moment:  B. G. Bradley Memoir Writing Workshop 

 Thursday, October 17, 2024.  2:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m.  Peter White Public Library Shiras Room.  Adults, Seniors, Teens.  In this pre-NEA Big Read event, award-winning author B. G. Operation Winter Wear

Marquette -Operation Winter Wear, an outreach that provides new and like-new adult and child-sized coats to individuals in need, will be taking place October 16 – 18. Hosted by Silver Creek Church and Silver Creek Thrift, distribution is by appointment only on Wednesday, October 16 and Thursday, October 17. Walk-ins are welcome on Friday, October 18 between noon and 3:00PM. Appointments can be made by calling 906.249.1715 between 9:00AM and 5:00PM Monday – Thursday. Availability of items are not guaranteed. Silver Creek Church and Silver Creek Thrift are located at 219 Silver Creek Road in Harvey.
