MARQUETTE CITY MANAGER COMMUNITY OFFICE HOURS

Marquette City Manager Karen Kovacs will hold her next community office hours on Wednesday, October 9 from 10 a.m. to noon in the Shiras Room, on the top level of Peter White Public Library (Front Street side). The meeting is intended to provide an informal opportunity to discuss issues within the community, and to give citizens the opportunity for direct dialogue with City staff about interests and concerns.

Marquette Regional History Center presents: Senior Support Series: Shipwreck!

  Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. Regional author Christian Leathers is a current Great Lakes ship pilot. Join us to hear his story of writing the recently published: The Wreck of the Steamer Superior. The 1856 tragedy took place near the Pictured Rocks lakeshore and is described in this book along with the fate of passengers she was carrying. Enjoy hearing this true story directly from the author who researched this seldom celebrated wreck. Artifacts on display for this event will help illustrate the tale. Feeding America Mobile Food Pantry

Marquette -Silver Creek Church and Silver Creek Thrift are partnering with Feeding America West Michigan to host a Feeding America Mobile Food Pantry on Thursday, October 10. The distribution of food will begin at 10:00am and continue while supplies last or until 11:30am. Food will be available for approximately 550 families. Due to changes with Feeding America West Michigan, proxy pickup will be limited.. This will be a drive-thru event with directions given by parking lot attendants. Guests are asked to remain in their cars and have adequate space prepared in their trunk or back seat in advance to allow

MARQUETTE, Mich., Sept. 17, 2024 – Northern Michigan University WellBeing today announced that will host “Wildcat World Mental Health Day” on Thursday, Oct. 10, coinciding with World Mental Health Day, an effort by the World Health Organization (WHO) to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and to mobilize efforts in support of mental health. Deo Discusses U.P. Portrait Collection

  Northern Michigan University alumnus Jack Deo will present an artist’s talk pertaining to his collection of photographs featured in the NMU DeVos Art Museum exhibition titled “Standing Still – Studio Portraits from the Upper Peninsula.” The event begins at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, in Art & Design 165 and will be followed by a reception.
