Marquette, MI – The Iron Ore Heritage Recreation Authority is rescheduling its monthly board meeting to Monday, September 30 starting at 4:30pm at the Ishpeming Multi-purpose Senior Center, 121 Greenwood Street, Ishpeming. The IOHRA is the caretaker of the Iron Ore Heritage Trail, a 47-mile, year-round, multi-use, interpretive trail that crosses the Marquette Iron Range in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.  Referred to as an outdoor linear museum where you exercise your body and mind.   Northern Michigan University’s jazz ensembles will return to the Reynolds Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30 for their first concert of the fall 2024 season. This event is free and open to the public. MUNISING—Alger County Communities That Care (AC3), in partnership with Pictured Rocks Pizza, will host the 8th annual Pizza with a Purpose fundraiser with proceeds used to support suicide prevention in Alger County. The event will be held Thursday, Oct. 3, from noon until 8 p.m. and Friday, Oct. 4 from noon until 7 p.m. at the popular Munising pizzeria famous for its gourmet wood-fired pizza. Join us to hear his story of writing the recently published: The Wreck of the Steamer Superior. The 1856 tragedy took place near the Pictured Rocks lakeshore and is described in this book along with the fate of passengers she was carrying. Enjoy hearing this true story directly from the author who researched this seldom celebrated wreck. Artifacts on display for this event will help illustrate the tale. MARQUETTE, Mich., Sept. 17, 2024 – Northern Michigan University WellBeing today announced that will host “Wildcat World Mental Health Day” on Thursday, Oct. 10, coinciding with World Mental Health Day, an effort by the World Health Organization (WHO) to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and to mobilize efforts in support of mental health.
