Northern Michigan University’s DeVos Art Museum will host an artist talk and reception featuring Liz Ward and Robert Ziebell at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26. The artists will discuss their work currently on display. Their project titled “Across Time and Place” explores the artists’ approaches to understanding and interpreting place through multimedia artworks. Their works examine the nuance of place and delve into the richness of our world today and in past periods. Ziebell’s career spans 30 years. Marquette, MI – The Iron Ore Heritage Recreation Authority is rescheduling its monthly board meeting to Monday, September 30 starting at 4:30pm at the Ishpeming Multi-purpose Senior Center, 121 Greenwood Street, Ishpeming. The IOHRA is the caretaker of the Iron Ore Heritage Trail, a 47-mile, year-round, multi-use, interpretive trail that crosses the Marquette Iron Range in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. MUNISING—Alger County Communities That Care (AC3), in partnership with Pictured Rocks Pizza, will host the 8th annual Pizza with a Purpose fundraiser with proceeds used to support suicide prevention in Alger County. The event will be held Thursday, Oct. 3, from noon until 8 p.m. and Friday, Oct. 4 from noon until 7 p.m. at the popular Munising pizzeria famous for its gourmet wood-fired pizza. Join us to hear his story of writing the recently published: The Wreck of the Steamer Superior. The 1856 tragedy took place near the Pictured Rocks lakeshore and is described in this book along with the fate of passengers she was carrying.
