Houghton – Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training

Copper Shores Outreach & Education is hosting a free two-day Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) on Monday, October 28 and Tuesday, October 29 at the MUB Alumni Lounge on Michigan Tech’s campus. This two day workshop runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day, teaching people the skills the help prevent suicide, and how to intervene to help keep someone safe from suicide.   Those who partake in ASIST include both trained professionals and members of the general public. Baraga County Holiday Decor Tours   HALLOWEEN outdoor displays must be engaged from 6pm until 9pm from October 21st through October 31st.   CHRISTMAS outdoor displays must be engaged from 6pm until 9pm from December 14th through January 1st.   Share your holiday spirit and passion for decorating by listing your site on the map!  Participate in Halloween, Christmas, or both!  There is no fee to participate and no fee for maps.  Sites listed on the maps will be entered into drawings for Baraga Bucks!    

Dead River Bridge Walk for Diabetes

 A Dead River Bridge Walk for Diabetes has been set for Sunday, October 13th, from noon – 3 with walk from 12 to 1pm with options for drawings and resource fair to follow. The event is centered at the picnic area of Marquette Tourist Park, 2145 Sugarloaf Ave. in Marquette, Michigan, hosted by the Marquette Lions Club. The FREE event is intended to support individuals living with diabetes through the importance of physical activity. A 2.2-mile picturesque walk starting at the picnic site#1 following the city bike path under the historic Co Rd 550 Dead River Bridge out to the other newer
