Houghton – Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training

Copper Shores Outreach & Education is hosting a free two-day Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) on Monday, October 28 and Tuesday, October 29 at the MUB Alumni Lounge on Michigan Tech’s campus. This two day workshop runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day, teaching people the skills the help prevent suicide, and how to intervene to help keep someone safe from suicide.   Those who partake in ASIST include both trained professionals and members of the general public. Baraga County Holiday Decor Tours   HALLOWEEN outdoor displays must be engaged from 6pm until 9pm from October 21st through October 31st.   CHRISTMAS outdoor displays must be engaged from 6pm until 9pm from December 14th through January 1st.   Share your holiday spirit and passion for decorating by listing your site on the map!  Participate in Halloween, Christmas, or both!  There is no fee to participate and no fee for maps.  Sites listed on the maps will be entered into drawings for Baraga Bucks!    

‘Letters from Brno’ Screening, Producer Talk at NMU

  Northern Michigan University will host a film screening of “Letters from Brno,” an award-winning documentary that relays a powerful, heart-wrenching story of parental love and unspeakable sacrifice during the Holocaust. The showing is at 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, in Mead Auditorium (2701 Science Building). The film’s writer and producer, Karen Kruger, will participate in a discussion afterward.
